Ingredients required for making Muthiya
- Leftover rice – 1 cup
- Gram flour – half cup
- Semolina – 3 spoons
- Green chilli – 1 (finely chopped)
- Ginger – 1 inch (grated)
- Turmeric – half teaspoon
- Red chilli powder – half teaspoon
- Salt – as per taste
- Oil – 1 teaspoon
For tempering:
- Rye
- Curry leaf
- Oil – 2 spoons

- First of all, mash the remaining rice well so that there are no lumps in it. Now add gram flour, semolina, ginger, green chilli, turmeric, red chilli powder and salt and mix well. Prepare soft dough by adding some water.
- Now make small rolls from this dough and give them the shape of muthiya. Steam the prepared muthiya in a steamer for about 10-12 minutes. When they cool, cut them into small pieces.
- After this, heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves, add tempering and fry the muthiya until it becomes light golden.
Make sweet and sour tamarind chutney like this
Soak tamarind in water for some time and take out its pulp. Now add jaggery, salt, red chilli and a little cumin powder to it. Cook this mixture on low flame until the chutney becomes thick.

Serve hot muthia with sweet and sour tamarind chutney. This combination enhances the taste even more and gives the taste of street food at home.
