Matt Clark's Revenge Plot Thickens
The gripping saga of Matt Clark continues to enthrall viewers in Genoa City on the beloved soap opera. After his unexpected return a few months back, the character, once presumed dead, is now on a mission to seek vengeance against Nick, Sharon, and Noah Newman. This storyline has spiraled into a whirlwind of kidnappings, substance abuse, and mounting chaos, highlighted by Matt's recent abduction of Sharon and Noah in Las Vegas, which complicates Nick's already fraught circumstances.
Roger Howarth, who brings Matt to life, recently provided insights into the character's psyche during an interview. He characterized Matt as being in a state of "full-on destructive, rageful mode," stressing that his schemes against the Newman family are just beginning. "He’s just getting started with the Newmans, and his plans to scorch the earth include every one of them in no particular order," Howarth noted, hinting at the unpredictable nature of Matt's intentions.
Howarth further discussed Matt's emotional turmoil, indicating that the character is perpetually triggered and mired in conflict. "He’s triggered and stays in this headspace of constant conflict," he explained, suggesting that every confrontation is taken personally by Matt. This intense mindset, according to Howarth, hinders Matt from achieving his best self, as he remains caught in a continuous struggle.
Upon being cast in the role, Howarth was aware of Matt's villainous traits but was taken aback by the character's profound malevolence. "I was really happy to see just what a colorful past he’s had. It’s a great part," he expressed, showing enthusiasm for the character's complexity. He also expressed a desire to delve deeper into Matt's storyline, contemplating the potential for further character development.
As the plot progresses, Howarth posed a thought-provoking question regarding the possibility of change: "Is it possible for a person to change?" This inquiry adds an intriguing dimension to Matt's journey, leaving fans eager to see how the writers will handle his evolution in the series. While the future of Matt Clark remains uncertain, the tension and drama promise to keep audiences captivated.
