The Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag landed into an unwanted controversy during their match against Punjab Kings at New Chandigarh on April 28. A video went viral on social media where Parag was seen blowing some device in the dressing room, and it was shown live on television.
The clip appeared on TV during the 16th over, which means Parag was already dismissed, and he was back in the dressing room with his teammates Yudhvir Singh Charak and Dhruv Jurel. At that, he was spotted vaping, but Yashasvi Jaiswal came in front, blocking the frame. The moment Jaiswal walked aside, Parag was seen discharging the smoke.

Well, this is not the first time RR landed in a controversy. Earlier, Romi Bhinder, the RR manager, was seen using a mobile phone in the dugout. The BCCI underwent a thorough investigation and later fined the manager.

What punishment awaits Riyan Parag?
First of all, smoking inside the dressing room and stadium premises is banned in India. Only designated places allow smoking. Apart from that, vaping or using an e-cigarette, as seen in Riyan's hand, is entirely banned in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act (PECA) 2019.
The act not only prohibits consumption but also production, sale, purchase, import, export, and even advertisements of it. In such a case, Riyan might land into serious trouble.
The Times of India had reached to a source close to the industry who said,
“Unlike smoking a cigarette, you don’t know what you are inhaling when it comes to vaping. There is a reason why it is banned in the country and one has no clue about the ingredients which go inside it and whether it meets the safety guidelines. Especially for an elite athlete. The franchise and the captain will need to keep their reasons ready because the BCCI is unlikely to come down soft on an incident like this."
