Karachi. The fuel crisis has become a major problem for people already struggling due to inflation in Pakistan. The situation has become so dire that people are resorting to strange behavior. According to a report, residents in some parts of Karachi have started storing gas in plastic balloons due to the severe gas shortage.
Residents of Karachi’s Orangi Town area say they have no other option due to the erratic gas supply. According to sources, these specially designed plastic balloons are filled with gas and then used for cooking. Residents said these balloons are available in local markets for around 1,000 to 1,500 rupees. Once filled, the balloons are detached from the gas line and used as a temporary storage system to meet cooking needs throughout the day.
According to the report, many families are facing significant difficulties due to the irregular supply of gas. The situation is so severe that even basic daily tasks are becoming difficult. This has forced them to resort to these strange and dangerous methods. Locals have attributed this practice to a severe gas shortage, citing the necessity.
According to the report, experts have raised serious safety concerns about this method. They warn that storing gas in plastic balloons can be extremely dangerous. Security analysts have described these balloons as “moving bombs.” They warn that even the slightest friction, heat, or spark can cause an explosion, which could have devastating consequences in densely populated residential areas. The presence of such gas-filled balloons inside homes has increased the risk of fires. Experts have appealed to authorities to intervene immediately in this matter.
