The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched the 'CBSE Parenting Calendar' under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This calendar has been introduced for the academic session 2026-27. The primary objective of the CBSE Parenting Calendar is to foster the holistic development of children by establishing better coordination between parents and schools.
Under this initiative, launched by the CBSE, parents will learn to understand their children's behavior and mental states through regular workshops.
**What is the 'Parenting Calendar'?**
The CBSE has introduced the 'Parenting Calendar' for the academic session 2026-27 as part of the NEP. Under this initiative, schools will provide specialized training to parents. Parents will not only learn to understand their children's behavior but will also receive regular training on topics such as the adverse effects of social media, gaming addiction, and screen time management.

**Separate Categories for Children of All Age Groups**
Under the 'Parenting Calendar,' the CBSE has created distinct categories for children of different age groups. Based on these specific categories, parents will be better equipped to understand and address the challenges their children face.
**Bal Vatika:** Under the 'Bal Vatika' category, emphasis will be placed on guiding parents regarding the habits, emotional development, and strategies for limiting screen time for children in nursery and pre-primary classes.
**Middle Classes:** Under this category, parents will be taught how to nurture their children's social interactions and friendships, as well as how to boost their self-confidence.
**Senior Classes:** Under this category, parents will assist students in navigating career-related anxieties and the stress associated with board examinations, while also helping them develop essential life skills.
**Organization of Workshops for Parents**
Schools will organize not only Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) but also regular workshops for parents. In these workshops, parents will learn to understand their children's behavior and mental well-being. Additionally, support groups will be established for parents. Furthermore, initiatives such as projects and 'Open House' programs will be utilized to foster greater offline engagement and connection between children and their parents.
