Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mohsin Khan has credited senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami for playing a crucial role in his recovery journey after a series of serious injuries that once left him struggling to even walk.
Despite a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign for Lucknow Super Giants, who have managed just two wins in eight matches, Mohsin's performance has emerged as a bright spot. The young pacer has delivered impactful spells, including a notable five-wicket haul, showcasing his return to form after a challenging phase.
Mohsin's journey back to competitive cricket has been far from easy. He suffered a severe shoulder injury in 2022 that nearly ended his career, followed by another setback in 2025 due to a calf injury. These injuries significantly impacted his confidence and physical ability, putting his future in the sport at risk.
During his rehabilitation phase, Mohammed Shami stepped in as a mentor and support system. Mohsin revealed that Shami not only shared his training equipment but also guided him through the mental and physical challenges of recovery, helping him regain confidence step by step.
Recalling those difficult days, Shami said Mohsin was initially so hesitant that he was "afraid to even walk or run" after removing his crutches. Through consistent encouragement and close coordination with medical staff, Shami helped him gradually return to basic training, ensuring he progressed without risking further injury.
Within a few days of guided training, Mohsin began jogging and catching again, marking a turning point in his recovery. His comeback now stands as a testament to resilience and mentorship, with Shami's role being widely acknowledged as instrumental in helping the young pacer rediscover his rhythm and confidence on the field.
