Former Indian cricketer and former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Manoj Tiwari has made a big allegation saying that in the election of 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections Earlier, he was asked for Rs 5 crore for the party ticket, but he refused to give this amount. After the election results came, Tiwari clearly said that his association with TMC is now over. He alleged that the party gave tickets only to those candidates who were ready to pay huge amount.
According to Manoj Tiwari, around 70 to 72 candidates paid around Rs 5 crore each to get the party ticket. He claims that he refused to pay the money, hence he was dropped from the list of candidates. Tiwari said that corruption and lack of development work were the main reasons for the party’s poor performance. He also raised questions on the working style of the TMC leadership and alleged that there is a lack of internal democracy within the party.
TMC listens to special people
According to him, the opinions of the ministers were not seriously listened to in the meetings and decisions were taken by a select few. Referring to the basic problems like drainage and sewage in his assembly constituency Shivpur, Tiwari said that assurances were given several times by the government, but no concrete work was done at the ground level. He also claimed that when government help was not available, he spent personal money for development work in his area.
Aruf Biswas accused
Apart from this, Tiwari accused senior state minister Arup Biswas of marginalizing him in the sports department and not allowing him to perform the responsibilities of his ministerial post properly. Talking about future plans, Manoj Tiwari said that now he wants to focus on cricket administration and coaching. He told that he has completed BCCI Level-2 Coaching Certification and has also applied for the post of head coach of Bengal Ranji team. Regarding his future in politics, he said that proposals have been received from other parties, but no final decision has been taken yet.
