The world's youngest headmaster Babar Ali has now become the MLA of West Bengal Assembly. He won Jalangi seat on TMC ticket. His school, started at the age of 9, is educating around 2,000 children today.
Hassan, Karnataka: West Bengal educationist Babar Ali (34), who became famous as the world's youngest headmaster, has now reached the West Bengal Assembly. Babar Ali, a resident of Bhappa village in Murshidabad district, contested the election from Jalangi assembly seat on a TMC ticket and won.
The story of Babar Ali began when at the age of just 9, he started teaching street vendors, garbage collectors and orphans in his backyard. Today his school is providing education to about 2,000 children. Babar Ali also has a deep connection with Karnataka. He has given lectures to students by visiting colleges and schools at many places in Chitradurga district including Hiriyur, Chitradurga, Raichur and Koppal. Apart from many states of India, he has inspired the youth by visiting countries like America, England, Japan, Singapore and Brazil. His school 'Anand Shiksha Niketan', started in 2002, is now 24 years old.
achievements
In 2013, the Government of Karnataka included a chapter in the English syllabus of First Year PUC (Class 11) on his extraordinary achievement. In October 2009, the BBC made a documentary on him titled 'The World's Youngest Headmaster'. In 2020, then President Ramnath Kovind also mentioned Babar Ali's achievements in his speech on the eve of Republic Day.
Born in Murshidabad
Babar Ali was born on March 18, 1993 in Bhappa village of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. His father's name is Nasiruddin and mother's name is Banaura Bibi. He has three brothers and one sister including Babar Ali. His family does small business in jute.
Babar did his early schooling from his village and completed high school from CRGS High School, Beldanga. He graduated from Kasimbazar Raj Govind Sundari Vidyapeeth. At that time he had to walk 5-6 kilometers every day to go to college. Later, he earned a master's degree in English and History from Kalyani University.
Considering his work in the field of education, TMC party gave him the ticket. Babar Ali is unmarried and has set another example by becoming an MLA in his very first attempt.
'Babar Ali's childhood is very interesting': Rangaswami
Hiriyur's litterateur and retired lecturer M.G. Rangaswamy says, "Babar Ali has had a very interesting childhood. He is a role model for students and an inspiration for those who have the will to do something. I have spent a lot of time with him. He is very simple-natured. I also took him around the VV Sagar (Marikaniwe) Dam and showed him the beauty there. He has brought light to the lives of thousands of children." Whenever Ali visits this area, he definitely meets Rangaswami. Both of them have also visited many places together.
