UPSC Recruitment: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced a new recruitment drive for professionals in the engineering and science sectors, for which the application process is currently underway. What are the Eligibility Criteria for the application?
Scientist-B (Mechanical): For this position, candidates must possess a Master's degree in Physics or a B.E./B.Tech degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering. Additionally, candidates must possess knowledge relevant to the specific field. Regarding work experience: candidates holding an M.Sc. degree require one year of experience in testing, calibration, or metrology within a recognized laboratory; whereas, candidates holding a B.E./B.A tech degree requires two years of experience.

Scientific Officer (Non-Destructive): For this position, a postgraduate degree in Physics, or a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering, is mandatory. This role is associated with technical and research-related tasks. In terms of experience, candidates must possess at least one year of experience working in an NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) laboratory, or experience utilizing techniques such as X-ray diffraction and failure analysis.

Superintending Archaeological Engineer: For this position, a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory. This role is associated with historical and government construction projects. Regarding experience, candidates must possess at least eight years of experience in the planning, execution, and supervision of civil construction works—specifically involving projects at government sites or heritage sites.
Assistant Professor (Civil/Surveying): For this position, it is mandatory to hold a First Class degree in M.E./M.Tech (Geo-informatics or Survey Technology) in addition to a B.E./B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering.

Age Limit Criteria
Specific age limits have been prescribed for each individual position. For the post of Scientist-B, the general age limit is 35 years, with age relaxations applicable to candidates belonging to reserved categories. The age limit for the position of Scientific Officer is 33 years, subject to age relaxation in accordance with applicable rules. For the post of Archaeological Engineer, the age limit extends up to 40 years, while candidates with disabilities may apply up to the age of 50. The age limit for Assistant Professor has been set at 38 years, with candidates belonging to other categories entitled to age relaxation as per government regulations.

**Application Fee Details**
For this recruitment drive, the application fee has been fixed at ₹25 for male candidates belonging to the General (UR), OBC, and EWS categories. However, female candidates, as well as those belonging to the SC/ST categories and candidates with disabilities, are completely exempted from the fee; that is, they are not required to pay any application fee.
