The Delhi Capitals team has not received any beneficial performances from Axar Patel during his appearances in the Indian Premier League IPL 2026. The all-rounder who proved to be India's most trustworthy white-ball player through the previous year has experienced major difficulties with both his batting and bowling performance for DC. The team has suffered because of his unpredictable performance after playing 10 games he has developed into a major problem for the team. The issue appeared again during the DC vs CSK match which took place on Tuesday.
Axar has managed to score 33 runs throughout his 10 matches in IPL 2026 while achieving a 6.60 batting average and a 97.05 strike rate. He has taken 8 wickets while bowling at an average of 29.87 and an economy rate of 8.53. In his seven middle-order batting innings Patel has scored 0 2 1 26 2 0 and 2 runs. His most effective bowling performance occurred against RCB when he achieved 2/18 bowling results.
Axar batted at number five in the match against CSK on Tuesday but could only manage 2 runs from 6 balls. The decision to bat him before Sameer Rizvi and Ashutosh Sharma turned out to be a mistake because both batsmen outperformed the DC captain. Patel's performance increased pressure on the team instead of helping them recover from their innings collapse. He achieved respectable bowling results with figures of 1/25 after bowling four overs.
Most of his matches have resulted in him conceding runs to the opposing team. The DC team has suffered because of Axar's batting and bowling struggles which have developed into a major problem for them since their fourth victory before the CSK match. The team needs to win every upcoming match in order to maintain their chances of making the playoffs.

In the past year Axar has established himself as one of India's most valuable white-ball all-rounders. He has consistently provided crucial performance to the national team through his contributions during middle overs and his role as a primary bowling choice. The strong performance he showed throughout the season now remains absent in his IPL 2026 appearances. His best T20I phase occurred between 2023 and 2025 when he competed in 48 matches and achieved 510 runs and 48 wickets. Axar played 9 T20Is in 2026 and scored 21 runs but he successfully took 15 wickets during his bowling performances.
He achieved his most successful batting season in 2023 when he scored 283 runs for his IPL career but his best bowling performance occurred in 2014 when he took 17 wickets. The current season has seen his performance drop from his previous standard because he has continued to take wickets ever since his IPL debut.
