Eoin Morgan, the former captain of England, commended Sanju Samson for his outstanding performance that led to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) achieving an impressive eight-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2026 on Tuesday. During a discussion on Star Sports, Morgan highlighted Samson's remarkable innings of 87 runs off just 52 balls, which featured seven fours and six sixes, enabling CSK to successfully chase a target of 156 runs with 15 balls remaining.

"I never imagined his stock could rise further, but this innings has certainly added to his value," Morgan remarked. He noted that Samson's presence in the dressing room reflects his experience and leadership qualities, stating, "He allows his performances to speak for themselves."

Samson's Leadership Shines Through

Morgan also pointed out Samson's leadership skills, emphasizing his composed nature and ability to steer his team during the chase. "Watching him lead the run chase like a veteran was a delight, especially as he guided a young player like Karthik Sharma at the other end," Morgan added.

Akeal Hosein Discusses Powerplay Strategy

In another highlight, CSK's left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein shared insights into his approach for bowling during the Powerplay. Hosein, who took the wicket of DC opener KL Rahul for just 12 runs, played a vital role in maintaining a low run rate in the early overs. He concluded his four-over spell with impressive figures of 1 wicket for 19 runs.

"Being brave is essential. Dwayne Bravo advised me that spinners will inevitably get hit during the Powerplay. The key is to eliminate that fear, trust your strategies, and concentrate on field placements. I also believe in thorough preparation and doing my homework," Hosein explained.

CSK's Current Standing

Following their convincing victory over the Capitals, the five-time champions CSK currently occupy the sixth position on the points table, having secured five wins out of ten matches.
