A heartfelt appeal from a six-year-old girl on social media seeking repairs for a waterlogged road near her home prompted quick action from the district administration in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.

Manavi Singh, a Class 1 student from Salempur Kon village near Lakhimpur city, posted a short video online addressing the district magistrate.

"DM uncle, you are very good… please get the road by my house repaired," she said, showing visuals of herself wading through a waterlogged brick road.



The video soon went viral and caught the attention of District Magistrate Anjani Kumar Singh, officials said.

Moved by the child’s request, Singh visited the village with a team of officials, met with Manavi and her family, and assured them of prompt action. He also interacted with the little girl and offered her biscuits and sweets.



During his inspection, the district magistrate discovered that the brick road connecting Manavi’s house to the main road had become uneven and was filled with rainwater and drainage overflow.

He issued on-the-spot directions for immediate repair of the road to ensure relief for the residents, officials said.

Additionally, the district magistrate noted signs of unplanned development in the area and warned residents about irregular plotting.

He advised them to verify the availability of proper drainage, electricity and road infrastructure before purchasing residential land, they added.
