Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, received 3.44 million foreign arrivals in the first quarter, up 8.62% year-on-year and marking the strongest quarterly performance since 2020.
Regional travel remained a key driver of inbound tourism, with visitors from neighboring countries accounting for the largest share of arrivals, according to Antara News Agency.
Malaysia remained Indonesia’s largest source market, contributing 186,530 visitors, or 17.14% of total arrivals.
In March alone, Indonesia welcomed 1.09 million foreign visitors, up 10.5% year-on-year.
Indonesia is targeting 16-17 million international tourist arrivals this year.
Malaysia welcomed 10.6 million tourists in the first quarter, up 5% year-on-year, reinforcing its position as the most visited country in Southeast Asia.
Thailand ranked second with 9.3 million.
