Saturday Night Live UK is drawing to a close and Sky has now revealed whether the programme will return for a second series.
The inaugural run has just a handful of episodes remaining on Sky One, having already featured hosts such as Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Jack Whitehall and Aimee Lou Wood.
Prior to the sketch programme wrapping up, Sky has announced that a second series has been commissioned, with the broadcaster ordering 12 additional episodes of the British adaptation of NBC's iconic show.
What's particularly encouraging is that viewers won't face a lengthy wait, with Saturday Night Live UK series two scheduled to return in September.
This means SNL UK will broadcast its weekly instalments throughout autumn 2026 and into early 2027 at 10pm on Sky One and streaming platform NOW.
The sketch programme has garnered polarised responses during its maiden run, with audiences noticeably split on X.
"We're 3 minutes in and I've given up on SNL UK already. Really poor", one viewer remarked, while another concurred: "5mins in watching SNL UK. Excruciating."
A third wrote: "UK version of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Just doesn't work. Seems woke already. Still waiting for comedy. The USA version was more no-holds-barred, superior."
However, not everyone has been critical of the new programme, with another posting: "Thank goodness for SNL UK, for at least providing some different."
A fan shared: "Okay...#SNL UK is actually quite good", as another added: "As a fan of SNL for over 30 years, the UK show has been great so far. Live sketch comedy has a uniqueness that I love."
With only two episodes remaining in the debut series, SNL UK is fast approaching its temporary curtain call.
The penultimate episode is due to air this Saturday, May 9, with actress Hannah Waddingham taking on hosting duties alongside musical guest Myles Smith.
The series one finale is then scheduled for the following week, May 16, with Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa at the helm and Holly Humberstone providing the musical entertainment.
Saturday Night Live UK is available to watch on Sky One and NOW.
