Mitchell Marsh, the star opener for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), expressed his satisfaction after scoring a remarkable century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He acknowledged that the season had been challenging, but was thrilled to see his team finally clinch a victory against RCB.

Following his match-winning century, Marsh noted that the pitch conditions were surprisingly favorable. His strategy was to capitalize on the powerplay to establish a strong foundation for the innings. He mentioned that LSG's batting lineup had shown improvement in their recent matches, feeling they were just a few runs short in their last game against Mumbai. Marsh commended the bowling performance against RCB, describing it as brave and expressing pride in the young players for successfully defending their score.

Batting first, Marsh scored an impressive 111 runs off 56 balls, hitting nine fours and nine sixes, leading LSG to a total of 209 runs in a rain-affected match. RCB, set a target of 213 runs according to the DLS method, lost their openers quickly, falling to nine runs.

"It has been a tough season. It feels great to finally secure a win. Although disappointing, there’s still much to play for. Some of the Indian players mentioned the pitch looked better than expected. I aimed to score as many runs as possible during the powerplay to set a strong tone for the game. In our last two matches, we have batted well, but were probably 10-15 runs short against Mumbai on a good wicket. Tonight, our bowling was courageous, and I’m proud of the young players for defending our total," Marsh commented post-match.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of LSG, emphasized the significance of this victory after a tough season. He mentioned that the team had been trying various combinations and strategies, and finally coming together as a cohesive unit was a positive development. Pant acknowledged the challenges faced during the campaign but noted that such experiences contribute to the team's growth. He highlighted the importance of achieving a balanced performance where both batting and bowling excelled, which he felt was accomplished in this match. Pant also praised Marsh's innings as 'unbelievable' and recognized the dedication of the bowlers, expressing confidence in building on their strengths moving forward.

With this victory, LSG has recorded three wins this season, alongside seven losses, placing them at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, RCB has dropped to third place after suffering their fourth defeat in the tournament.
