Man beaten up by public for allegedly trying to stab wife in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A man who allegedly attacked his wife on a busy road and attempted to stab her was caught and beaten up by members of the public before being handed over to the police in Dasanapura under the Madanayakanahalli police station limits.

The accused, identified as Sanjay, a native of North India, was taken into custody and questioned by the police. However, the injured woman reportedly refused to file a complaint and requested police to warn and release him. Following her request, the police warned the accused and let him go.

The incident took place on May 6 in Dasanapura near Madanayakanahalli.

According to police, the woman was walking on the main road in Dasanapura on Tuesday afternoon when Sanjay allegedly stopped his vehicle suddenly and attacked her. He later tried to stab her with a knife.

Local residents who noticed the incident rushed to the spot, rescued the woman and assaulted Sanjay before informing the police.

The attack was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.

Police said Sanjay had entered into a second marriage. Due to his drinking habit, the woman had separated from him and was living alone. On May 6, he allegedly spotted her walking on the road and attempted to attack her with a knife.
