Sky News presenter Kamali Melbourne and Robert Jenkins butted heads in an awkward clash on Friday morning. It comes as the new channel was discussing the local elections results as they are being counted.
The former Tory turned Reform politician did not hold back on sharing his views - much to the dismay of the host. He asked Mr Jenkins whether or not he was a "populist", to which Jenkins replied: "I don't use that phrase but neither am I ashamed of being in a party which is taking up actual concerns." He went on to add that the "reality" is that Britain has been "very badly governed for the last 25 years" both by Labour and the Conservatives. He continued: "I was part of one of those governments, don't get me wrong. I've seen it up close how it failed. It left people feeling poor, with our economy weakened, open borders, crime, hollowed out high streets, public services that are poor.
"People want real politics. It's about a unique opportunity, probably the first opportunity in my adult lifetime to actually get a government that can come in and turn this thing around."
Mr Melbourne then cut in as he pointed out that Jenrick had avoided the populist question.
The politician then sidetracked once more asking about the economy as the interview began to turn sour.
Both of the men then started to talk over each other as neither could be heard properly as their hand actions indicated that things were getting a little heated. Eventually Mr Melbourne put an abrupt end to the interview as he thanked Jenrick and said goodbye before the show quickly moved on.
The clash follows a jubilant Nigel Farage suggesting that Reform could win the next general election after the success in the local ballots.
A Reform source told the Express: "We're seeing a direct swap from Labour to Reform. The Red Wall is crumbling one brick at a time. This could be a devastating night for Starmer."
However, Keir Starmer has said that he is "not going to walk away".
Asked if he had contemplated resignation, he told broadcasters: "The voters have sent a message about the pace of change, how they want their lives improved.
"I was elected to meet those challenges but I'm not going to walk away from those challenges."
