A first-time airplane journey is a memorable experience for everyone, though it can be accompanied by an equal measure of nervousness. Many questions tend to swirl in one's mind, ranging from the security screening process at the airport to what items are permitted in one's luggage.

If you, too, are preparing to take your first flight, there are certain key points you should definitely keep in mind to ensure your maiden voyage remains a truly memorable experience. Let's explore these essential tips.

**Be Punctual**
The most crucial rule of air travel is arriving on time. For domestic flights, it is advisable to reach the airport at least 2 to 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure time, and 4 hours in advance for international flights. Remember that security checks and the check-in process at the airport can be quite time-consuming. Therefore, if you arrive late, you run the risk of missing your flight.

**Essential Documents**
Before leaving home, ensure that you have the following items with you:

**Flight Ticket:** A copy of your ticket—either digital or printed.
**Proof of Identity:** An Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Passport.
**Boarding Pass:** You can complete the web check-in process from the comfort of your home, thereby avoiding long queues at the airport.

**Baggage Rules**
There are two types of luggage permitted on a flight:

**Check-in Baggage:** This refers to the larger bag(s) that are deposited at the airline's check-in counter. Typically, the weight limit for this baggage ranges from 15 to 25 kilograms.

**Cabin Baggage:** This is the bag you are permitted to carry with you inside the aircraft cabin. Its weight is generally restricted to a maximum of 7 kilograms.

Always pack power banks, laptops, and lithium-ion batteries in your cabin baggage; carrying these items in your check-in baggage is strictly prohibited. Additionally, ensure that gels, lotions, and similar liquid items do not exceed a volume of 100ml.

**Airport Procedures**
**Entry:** Present your flight ticket and valid ID at the entrance gate to gain entry into the airport terminal.

**Check-in:** Proceed to your specific airline's counter to deposit your check-in baggage and collect your boarding pass.

**Security Check:** At this station, both you and your cabin baggage (hand luggage) will undergo a thorough security screening. You must place your belt, watch, jacket, and electronic items in the tray.

Boarding Gate – After the security check, proceed to your assigned gate number, take a seat, and wait for the boarding announcement.

Take-off and Landing
During take-off or landing, changes in air pressure may cause your ears to feel blocked or result in mild discomfort. To alleviate this, you can chew on a toffee, yawn, or use earplugs. This is completely normal and no cause for alarm.

Rules Inside the Aircraft
Seatbelt – Keep your seatbelt fastened whenever the seatbelt sign is illuminated.

Listen to the Crew – Follow the instructions provided by the flight attendants; they are there to ensure your safety.

Electronic Devices – Keep your mobile phone in Flight Mode while on board the aircraft.
