Peak XV Partners, India’s largest venture capital (VC) firm, has appointed former Fractal executive Shelly Singh as an operating partner at its San Francisco office as the investor sharpens its focus on US deals, especially in artificial intelligence.
Singh, formerly chief growth officer at Fractal, will work with Peak XV’s portfolio companies to help founders drive “strategic and operational” outcomes across go-to-market acceleration, growth strategy, and organisational design, he said in a LinkedIn post.
“Peak XV has built a strong track record of partnering with founders to scale category-defining companies, with a clear focus on long-term value creation and disciplined execution. What stands out to me most is its operator-led approach and deep commitment to working closely with leadership teams through every stage of growth,” Singh added.
Before Fractal, Singh, a Harvard graduate, had founded growth management company Samya.ai in the US. He was also on the board of India-based enterprise AI firm Mad Street Den, which has rebranded itself as Vue.ai.
Singh’s appointment comes at a time when the Bengaluru-based VC has started ramping up its tech investments in the US three years after its split with Sequoia Capital. Since mid-2025, Peak XV has backed US-based AI startups such as PostHog, Marqvision, Hyperbound, and Alex, among others. Last year, Peak XV also hired former YCombinator investor Arnav Sahu as a principal in the US.
In June 2023, Sequoia, among the world’s biggest VC firms, hived off its India and China operations into independent entities. Since then, it has seen the departures of some of its oldest partners and managing directors, including Shailesh Lakhani, Harshjit Sethi, Ishan Mittal, Shraeyansh Thakur, and Ashish Agarwal, among others.
In 2025, several Peak XV portfolio companies, such as Groww, Pine Labs, and Wakefit got listed on Indian stock exchanges, giving the VC firm banner returns and helping it raise a $1.3 billion fund, its first since the split with Sequoia Capital, despite all that churn.
