WHO’s Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove clarified in the press conference that this virus is not like corona or flu, because the way it spreads is completely different. He gave the news of relief that no new symptoms have been found in any person on board the ship. The doctor also explained that this type of virus spreads from one person to another only when they come in very close contact with each other, hence it does not spread as fast as Corona.

Cases have been seen before

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) official, a similar situation was seen in Argentina in the year 2018-19, where many people fell ill due to an infected person. He also clarified that at present the situation is under control. If the people who came in contact with the infected person are identified in time and kept in isolation, then this infection can be stopped from spreading further.

What is Hantavirus?

According to the WHO chief, Hantavirus spreads to humans through the feces, urine or saliva of rats and rodents. A strain named Andes has been found in it, which can spread to humans only at a very low level. The first case of this virus occurred on a ship on April 6 and a man and his wife died during treatment. Initially its symptoms seemed like a common respiratory disease, so it was difficult to identify. At present, some more infected patients are undergoing treatment in different countries.
