In a deeply troubling incident in Beed, Maharashtra, a 50-year-old man has been accused of committing heinous acts against his own 3-year-old granddaughter. This shocking case has sent ripples of horror throughout the state.
Details of the Case
The recent incident follows a similar case in Pune, where a 65-year-old man was charged with the rape and murder of a 3.5-year-old girl. In Beed, the accused grandfather allegedly assaulted his granddaughter between April 16 and 25 while she was visiting her maternal home with her mother. After suffering pain, the young girl disclosed the incident to her mother, who was devastated to learn of the abuse by her own father.
Legal Action Taken
The mother of the victim promptly filed a complaint at the Yusuf Wadgaon police station. Following the report, authorities registered a case against the accused and swiftly apprehended him.
The police have initiated proceedings under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in relation to this incident.
Support from NGOs
According to police reports, the accused allegedly abused his granddaughter multiple times during the specified period. Upon learning of the situation, the child's mother and grandmother sought assistance from a non-governmental organization (NGO) to file their complaint.
Due to marital issues stemming from her husband's alcoholism, the child's mother has been living with her parents for the past three years. The accused was presented in court on Saturday and has been remanded to police custody for three days.
