In a disturbing incident in Balangir, Odisha, a man has been arrested for the murder of his brother's wife. Reports indicate that the victim rejected the man's romantic advances, leading to the tragic event. The police have apprehended the suspect following the incident.

This horrifying case unfolded in the Chitramunda village of the Muribahal police jurisdiction, creating a wave of shock and fear in the community. The accused has been identified as Bhojraj Sahu, who is now in police custody. The victim, known as Janaki Sahu, also referred to as Ranjhu, was found dead two days after the incident, which occurred on the night of May 2.

It has been reported that the victim's husband has been working out of state for an extended period, leaving her alone in the village. Taking advantage of this situation, Bhojraj, who is related to her as a brother-in-law, began to pursue her. Initially, their interactions were friendly, but tensions escalated when Bhojraj began pressuring her for a relationship. Despite her repeated rejections, he continued to harass her, leading to frequent arguments. On the night of the incident, in a fit of rage, Bhojraj attacked her with a stone, resulting in her immediate death. He also attempted to conceal the body to hide the crime.


Arrest and Investigation

Following an initial investigation, the police detained the suspect. During questioning, he confessed to the crime, leading to his formal arrest. On Tuesday morning, law enforcement recreated the crime scene, where Bhojraj detailed how he committed the brutal act.


Police Statement

SDPO Lakshminarayan Marandi stated, 'The victim's brother, Brahmaraj Sahu, filed the FIR. The investigation revealed that after his romantic advances were rejected, the accused planned and executed the murder. Bhojraj Sahu, son of Sundar Sahu, is a resident of Chitramunda village under the Muribahal police station. We have gathered substantial evidence and are continuing our investigation. Currently, we have evidence implicating one individual, but we will pursue further arrests as more evidence comes to light. We have seized the stone used in the murder and two mobile phones. Our team has collected evidence from the crime scene, and we have obtained call records showing that the accused made 219 calls to the victim over two months, indicating his persistent advances. When she tried to avoid him, he resorted to murder.'
