Ex-India bowler Murali Kartik lashed out at Delhi Capitals for leaving out Prithvi Shaw, following their heavy loss by eight wickets to Kolkata Knight Riders during Friday’s IPL 2026 clash. Batting woes haunted DC yet again as they limped to 142/8, Pathum Nissanka scraping together 50 amid a string of frail performances.
Racing through the target, Kolkata Knight Riders barely broke a sweat when Finn Allen blasted his way to a flawless hundred, steering them across the line well before the sixth over spun out. Delhi Capitals stumbled again mid-innings – Nitish Rana faltered, Sameer Rizvi flickered then faded, Tristan Stubbs offered little, while skipper Axar Patel added just another quiet exit.

Outspoken ex-India bowler Murali Kartik lashed out at Delhi Capitals for leaving out Prithvi Shaw, following their heavy loss by eight wickets to Kolkata Knight Riders during Friday’s IPL 2026 clash. Batting woes haunted DC yet again as they limped to 142/8, Pathum Nissanka scraping together 50 amid a string of frail performances.

Delhi Capitals stumbled again mid-innings – Nitish Rana faltered, Sameer Rizvi flickered then faded, Tristan Stubbs offered little, while skipper Axar Patel added just another quiet exit.
Out on the field, Delhi’s captain Axar Patel pointed fingers at his squad’s weak hitting and shaky pitching after they crumbled in a crushing loss – one that now leaves their postseason dreams hanging by a thread.
Pulling ahead slightly, KKR finds itself seventh with nine points after ten outings, keeping faint chances of making it through still alive. Eighth now sits Delhi Capitals, managing only eight points despite playing eleven matches so far.
“For now, we’ll go back and think about the mistakes we made. After that, obviously, there’s still a long journey ahead, and next year will come too. So we’ll think about what plans we can make for next year and what approach we should take,” Axar said after the match.
“Based on that, we can also look at the players sitting on the bench and decide who can be given opportunities and what changes we can make,” he added, hinting at possible changes to the squad next season.
