FMCG Products: Amidst global uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, companies have witnessed a significant rise in their input costs. Consequently, FMCG companies are currently striving to balance their margins to ensure that profitability remains intact.

FMCG Products Price Hike: Products ranging from soaps and detergents to biscuits, packaged food items, and beverages are expected to become more expensive. In fact, the impact of a potential surge in petrol and diesel prices is now poised to affect the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sector. Due to rising logistics and raw material costs, companies are preparing to hike the prices of their products.

Challenges Facing FMCG Companies

Companies are experiencing shrinking profit margins due to inflationary pressures stemming from fluctuations in crude oil prices, rising logistics expenses, currency depreciation, and disruptions in global supply chains caused by geopolitical tensions. This pressure is being felt across all sectors, including food, personal care, beverages, and household products.

As a result, FMCG companies are attempting to balance their margins. To achieve this, they are either raising prices or reducing pack sizes to maintain sales volumes, while simultaneously ensuring they can retain the popular, smaller-sized packets—typically priced at ₹5, ₹10, or ₹15—that remain customer favorites in the market.

List of Products Set to Become More Expensive

Soaps and Detergents: The international prices of key ingredients used in these products—specifically palm oil and Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB)—are on the rise.

Dish Wash and Hand Wash: Increased packaging and transportation costs for these products could lead to a price hike of 5–10 percent.

Biscuits and Savory Snacks: The rising costs of flour, sugar, and palm oil are expected to have a direct impact on the products manufactured by biscuit and savory snack companies. These companies are likely to either raise prices or reduce the net weight of their packets. Packaged Food—The prices of frozen foods and instant noodles may also rise.

Soft Drinks and Juices—Prices for these items could increase due to rising demand during the summer season and the increased cost of manufacturing plastic (PET) bottles.

Tea and Coffee—Due to rising logistics costs, packaged tea and coffee products may also become more expensive.
