Pandavas reached the shelter of Lord Shiva
To get freedom from this sin, all the Pandavas took refuge in Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva also decided to test Pandavas and Draupadi. To stay away from the Pandavas, Mahadev took the form of a bull and started hiding on the earth, but Bhima caught hold of the tail of Mahadev in the form of a bull. Due to this, only the back of the bull remained on the land. This hump of the bull is in Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand.
Due to this, the Shivalinga here is triangular in shape i.e. in the shape of a bull's back. Lord Shiva disappeared from there in the form of a bull and different parts of the bull hidden in the ground appeared at other 4 places. This is the reason why all these 5 places including Kedarnath are called Panchkedar.
