Discussions regarding a cabinet expansion in Uttar Pradesh have intensified. Reports indicate that the expansion could take place tomorrow, May 10. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to meet with Governor Anandiben Patel today to discuss this matter. It is anticipated that six new legislators will be appointed as ministers in the state, including rebel SP legislators Pooja Pal and Manoj Pandey.
Additionally, Krishna Paswan, Bhupendra Chaudhary, Ashok Kataria, and Romi Sahni are also likely to be included in the cabinet. Currently, Uttar Pradesh has a total of 54 ministers, while the permissible limit is 60. This move aims to fill the vacant positions ahead of the elections scheduled for next year. Previously, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated Shuvendu Adhikari, who took the oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, and presented him with a saffron shawl.
In Kolkata, a grand oath-taking ceremony for the first BJP government in Bengal was held today in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where Adityanath was also present. He congratulated Adhikari on assuming office and wished him a successful tenure. According to a statement, Adityanath adorned Adhikari with a saffron shawl on stage. During the West Bengal assembly election campaign, Adhikari had welcomed Adityanath by draping him in a saffron shawl at a public rally.
