The recent passing of Joni Lamb, president of the Daystar Television Network, at the age of 65 has drawn significant attention to her last public appearances. The network announced her death on May 7, revealing that she had been privately battling serious health issues prior to a recent back injury that exacerbated her condition. In a statement, Daystar noted, "Before her back injury, Lamb faced serious health challenges that she chose to confront privately. The injury intensified these issues, leading to a more severe medical situation than anticipated." Following the announcement, social media users began sharing older footage of Lamb on air, with many commenting on noticeable changes in her appearance and speech during recent broadcasts.

A commentary account, Voice Of Insight, shared clips and mentioned that viewers had observed "something unusual" during a program. Some viewers remarked that her face appeared swollen, while others noted her speech seemed slightly unclear. Additionally, it was reported that Lamb missed a later broadcast, prompting her daughter, Rachel Lamb Brown, to co-host with Doug Weiss. In March, another social media user claimed that Lamb appeared on television with a swollen face, hinting at potential medical issues, although no official diagnosis was disclosed at that time.

The resurfacing of these clips sparked further online speculation regarding Lamb’s health leading up to her death. Some users suggested that medications, such as corticosteroids, might have influenced her appearance, while others speculated about possible neurological conditions like Bell’s palsy or a stroke. However, there has been no official medical confirmation linking Lamb to these conditions. One viewer noted that Lamb’s left arm seemed weak during a television appearance, while another suggested that a program featuring her might have been a repeat from January. These claims remain unverified.

In its statement, Daystar revealed that Lamb's health had rapidly declined in the days leading up to her passing, despite receiving medical care. "Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days," the network stated. "We believe she is now in the presence of Jesus, reunited with Marcus, and receiving her reward for a life beautifully lived in service to the Lord." Joni Lamb co-founded Daystar with her late husband, Marcus Lamb, in 1993. Following his death from Covid-related complications in 2021, she took over as president of the network. In 2023, she married Doug Weiss. Daystar confirmed that Lamb had put an executive leadership structure in place before her death to ensure the ministry's continuity. She is survived by her husband and three children: Jonathan Lamb, Rachel Lamb Brown, and Rebecca Lamb Weiss.
