Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office to eight leaders in the swearing-in ceremony held at Lok Bhawan in the capital Lucknow. This expansion is not only being seen as a cabinet reshuffle, but also as a new social and political strategy of the BJP before the 2027 assembly elections.

Attempt to solve caste equation
In this expansion of Yogi government, special attention has been paid to social equations. One Brahmin, three OBC and two Dalit faces have been given place among the new ministers. It is believed that BJP is working on a strategy to woo every section before the 2027 assembly elections. By giving representation especially to Dalits and backward classes, the party has clearly indicated that it wants to further strengthen its support base through social balance. At the same time, by including the Brahmin face, the party has also tried to give a message to that class, about which discussions were going on for some time.
Speculations intensified after meeting the Governor
Discussions about cabinet expansion had intensified when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had gone to Raj Bhavan a day earlier and met Governor Anandiben Patel. Since then, speculation about cabinet expansion had increased in political circles. Now after this expansion, it is clearly believed that BJP has started preparations for 2027 at both the organization and government levels. The party can take steps towards further strengthening regional leaders and social equations in the coming times.

Eye on 2027 elections
Political analysts believe that this cabinet expansion is not just an administrative need but a strategic preparation for the upcoming assembly elections. BJP is aiming to return to power in UP for the third consecutive time and in such a situation, increasing social representation along with organizational strength has become its priority. This step of Yogi government may also affect the strategy of opposition parties. New equations may be seen in the politics of UP in the coming months.
