Bhagyashree made her Bollywood debut with the film 'Maine Pyar Kiya' released in 1989. This was also Salman Khan's first film as a lead hero. But the actress got 4 times the fee as compared to the hero. This is often discussed in the media. But now during an interview, Bhagyashree herself has broken her silence on this.
Bhagyashree, who became an overnight star with the 1989 blockbuster film 'Maine Pyar Kiya', is in the headlines. The reason is her big statement on getting more fees than Salman Khan. According to reports, Bhagyashree got Rs 1 lakh for the film, whereas Salman Khan's fee was only Rs 25 thousand. Now after years, Bhagyashree has spoken openly on this issue. He has said many shocking things regarding pay parity in Bollywood, fees of actresses and the business model of the industry. Bhagyashree says that market and demand work more than hard work in the film industry.

Bhagyashree breaks silence on higher fees than Salman
Recently, in an interview given to Zoom, Bhagyashree was asked whether she really got more fees than Salman Khan for 'Maine Pyar Kiya'? On this the actress said, "It completely depends on supply and demand. Talking about money, it is a straight business. A woman definitely works hard, but if the producer or director feels that she can be replaced by someone else, then they offer money accordingly." Bhagyashree clearly said that at that time the industry was run with a business mindset and even today the situation is not much different.
Unless women come together, equality will be difficult: Bhagyashree
Bhagyashree also openly expressed her opinion on pay parity in Bollywood. She said, "Until the women themselves come together and say that we should be paid this much, nothing will change. There will always be someone who will be willing to work for less money." The actress further said that the film industry is a very volatile market, where not only talent but also business strategy matters. According to him, many people compromise on both their craft and fees to get work, due to which the fight for equality becomes weak.
Bhagyashree's pairing with Salman Khan was very strong.
'Maine Pyar Kiya', released in 1989, proved to be the biggest blockbuster of that year. In this film directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the pairing of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree was greatly liked by the audience. Artists like Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Rajeev Verma, Mohnish Bahl, Ajit Vachani and Laxmikant Berde were also seen in the film. After marriage, Bhagyashree stayed away from films and got busy in family life. Recently she was seen in the role of Jijabai Bhosle in Riteish Deshmukh's film 'Raja Shivaji'. The Marathi version of the film was a resounding success at the box office and Bhagyashree's work was also highly appreciated.
