Mumbai Indians youngster Raj Bawa becomes a victim of online trolls during IPL 2026 following the crucial catch that dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck during the high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
The incident happened during the chase at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. Chasing 167 runs, RCB dealt with a major blow after their opener, Virat Kohli, failed to score a single run and was dismissed in the very first ball he faced. Deepak Chahar bowled a ball wide of the off stump, and Kohli went to play over mid-off but failed to make proper connection with the ball as it went on the upper portion of the bat straight towards Raj Bawa, who made a brilliant diving catch to complete a sharp wicket.
Bawa was elated with the wicket and celebrated it vigorously as all the Mumbai Indians players jumped in joy to remove one of the biggest batters in world cricket. Just minutes after the wicket fell, a huge number of reactions poured on social media. Many fans praised the young MI all-rounder for taking such a critical catch in a pressure situation but many crossed the limit and started abusing him on social media platforms.

Kohli Records Second Consecutive Duck
The dismissal grabbed eyeballs due to Virat Kohli registering his second consecutive duck in IPL 2026. Earlier, the former RCB skipper had been dismissed for a duck by LSG in Lucknow just a few days back.
This was the first time that Virat Kohli has scored ducks in two successive IPL matches since IPL 2022. Back then, he was dismissed for zero runs by LSG and SRH in two consecutive matches.
The poor form of Virat Kohli added much-needed emotion to the RCB versus MI clash given the fact that Bengaluru were fighting for much-needed points for the playoffs race.
MI Bowlers Put Under Pressure
Earlier in the game, Mumbai Indians had piled up 166/7 in their 20 overs thanks to meaningful contributions from Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir. While with the ball, in particular, it Bhuveneshwar Kumar who led the attack, taking 4 wickets for the RCB.
With the dismissal of Kohli, MI gained the upper hand in the chase almost immediately. MI soon bagged two more wickets of Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar to stay in the game.
