The IPL 2026 witnessed a memorable double header day on Sunday, May 10. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a thrilling encounter by five wickets.
On the other hand, two IPL behemoths, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) played out a thriller that stetched to the last ball, with the former picking up a crucial victory. Both these wins have had a significant impact on the points table.
The first match did not alter the points table, with CSK remaining on 5th but now with 12 points. LSG remained last with 6 points from 11 games.
The second game though made RCB the table toppers, as they jumped right from fourth place. They now have 14 points from 11 games, with a Net Run Rate of +1.103. MI are on the 9th spot of the table.
Both LSG and MI have now been knocked out of the tournament.
Urvil Patel Powers CSK To Massive Win Vs LSG
After batting first after losing the toss, LSG got off to a flying start. This was especially courtesy Josh Inglis who played his first game of the IPL 2026. Inglis smashed 85 from 33 balls in an innings studded with 10 fours and 6 sixes. However, despite the great start, LSG stuttered in the middle overs, with no batter managing to bat with the momentum that Inglis batted with. However, Shahbaz Ahmed added some late momentum with a knock of 43 runs, as LSG smashed 203/8 at the end of their 20 overs.
Jamie Overton was the pick of the bowlers picking up three wickets.
Chasing 204 to win, CSK got off to a whirlwind start putting up 45 runs from the first wicket, before Samson departed for 28. However, it was time for Urvil Patel to play the innings of his life. He smashed 65 from 23 balls, smashing the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history in just 13 deliveries.
After Urvil's wicket, the run scoring slowed down as the LSG bowlers slowly came back into the game. However, CSK kept their nerves, and took the run chase til the last over, where Shivam Dube hit two sixes, and finished the game off.
RCB, MI Play Out Nail-Biting Thriller
After being put into bat first against RCB, MI got off to a horrific start, as they lost three wickets in the first three overs f the innings. After that Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir stabilized the innings with an 82-run stand for the fourth wicket. Tilak Varma was the top scorer with 57 runs, while Dhir scored 47.
After the partnership, RCB continued taking wickets, as they were restricted of 166/7 after their 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the MI bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 23 runs.
The Mumbai Indians bowlers were on point as they were defending a modest total, as they kept taking the RCB wickets at regular intervals, including that of Virat Kohli for a golden duck. However, it was Krunal Pandya who continued his fight from one end of the crease. He smashed 76 runs from 43 balls.
Despite the other batters not doing well, RCB stretched the game till the last over of the contest, where they won in the last ball. They wer massibely helped by Bhuvneshwar Kumar , who hit a six when 9 runs were required off three balls.
