Team India squad for the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan has reportedly been selected and senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are all set to make a return to the 50-over setup next month.

According to sources, Shubman Gill will lead the side for the three-match ODI series and Shreyas Iyer is tipped to be the vice-captain. The one-off Test and three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan is set to take place in the month of June after the culmination of IPL 2026.

The solitary Test match would take place between June 6 and 10 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh and would not be part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. The ODI series will commence on June 14 at Dharamsala followed by matches in Lucknow on June 17 and in Chennai on June 20.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Return to ODI Setup

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were last seen in the Indian colors in the ODI series against New Zealand early this year and are expected to make their return in the series against Afghanistan.

The reported squad also includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Nitish Kumar Reddy. One of the major inclusion point is the comeback of Ishan Kishan in the ODI squad after a long layoff.

Southpaw Tilak Varma has also been reportedly included in the squad despite having only been featured in the T20 format for the past year. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel have reportedly been overlooked for the series in the ODI format.
