Manipal: Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T.K. called upon the public to cooperate and accelerate the digitization process under the Jnana Bharatam Mission, which aims to permanently preserve centuries-old handwritings, manuscripts, and other historical documents using modern technology.
Presiding over a meeting at the District Collector's office on Monday regarding the implementation of the manuscript conservation and digitization project in the district, she stated that a nationwide survey is being conducted to collect and safeguard ancient texts and records. Citizens who possess such rare documents can directly upload them via the Jnana Bharatam app or provide information so that surveyors can visit their locations to record the data.
The DC emphasized that all universities, museums, organizations, mutts, and individuals in the district must document the manuscripts in their possession. She urged educational institutions, private research centers, and families holding historical records to join hands with the district administration in this significant mission.
During the event, a promotional poster for the Jnana Bharatam Mission was released. Assistant Director of the Tourism Department Vindhya N.M., Project Director of the Urban Development Cell Subramanya, Municipal Commissioner Mahantesh Hangaragi, Information Officer Manjunath B., District Coordinator of Jnana Bharatam Dr. Gopalacharya, Dhanalakshmi from the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, and Dr. B. Jagadish Shetty, Administrator of Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Research Centre, were present.
