Tamim Iqbal former skipper of Bangladesh Cricket Team finally commented on the rift between BCB and BCCI over recent issues. Tamim believes the relations between two cricket boards are recovering gradually. While being the caretaker President of BCB, Tamim confessed that current administration of Bangladesh cricket didn't manage the T20 World Cup fiasco of 2026 correctly.
BCCI has asked Kolkata Knight Riders to allow Mustafizur Rahman go from their squad in IPL due to the diplomatic feud between India and Bangladesh back in January. This report led to the controversy.
This developed into a major controversy later, when Bangladesh requested ICC for changing the venue for their T20 World Cup matches from India because of some security issues. ICC turned down Bangladesh's request leading the Bangladesh team opting out of the tournament entirely.
Speaking to Indian Express, Tamim agreed that Bangladesh should have opted for a different solution other than withdrawing from the event
Tamim said:
"I was probably the first one to speak out when the World Cup issue happened. What was done, how it was handled by the previous Bangladesh Cricket Board administration, was not right. There was scope to resolve the issues through ICC which was lenient; there was opportunity to do so. We should have found a solution,"

Tamim says BCB and BCCI have no major problems now
Tamim elaborated on his bond with the current BCCI President Mithun Manhas and stressed that the future matches between India and Bangladesh would proceed in smooth fashion unlike the past few months circumstances in regards of the security issues.
Tamim stated that he has played much cricket with current BCCI president Mithun Manhas. He revealed their bond as during the time in IPL they represented the same franchise. Tamim informed that ties between BCB and BCCI are stable now.
Tamim said when explaining that relations are now fine between the two Boards:
"In regards to the BCCI- I've played a lot of cricket with (current BCCI president) Mithun Manhas. We were together at Kolkata Knight Riders at IPL."
He asserted that India's security concerns in Bangladesh is unfounded and added that fans of both nations enjoyed playing each other.
Tamim Assured :
"I personally don't think BCB and BCCI are facing real issues anymore. A series in Bangladesh would be a big step forward."
On the other hand Tamim also spoke against the previous BCB administration by saying that Bangladesh domestic cricket was destroyed with incompetent leadership and unpaid cricketers.
"It had become so nasty," Tamim said when referring to the crisis that had pushed players into a desperate situation financially due to poor management by the BCB at the time.
Tamim aims to revive the Bangladesh cricket with an agenda where similar problems don't take place again.
