Mission ShakthiSAT, an initiative led by Space Kidz India, has expanded its presence to Sri Lanka through a collaboration with Women in Management Global as part of the all-girls lunar satellite mission.

The initiative was formally introduced during a meeting between Srimathy Kesan and Eranga Weeraratne. The discussions focused on international cooperation in space science, STEM education, innovation, and technological empowerment for young girls.

Mission ShakthiSAT is a global lunar mission involving 12,000 girls from 108 countries in the design, development, and launch of a satellite to the Moon. The mission focuses on providing exposure to satellite technology, PCB design, coding, systems engineering, and STEM education while encouraging global unity, leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration.

Sri Lanka now joins this historic global movement in partnership with Women in Management Global under the leadership of Sulochana Segera.

Srimathy Kesan said in a statement, “Mission ShakthiSAT is about creating opportunities for girls to become future scientists, engineers, innovators, and leaders. Through this initiative, we are building a global ecosystem where young minds learn, create, and collaborate beyond borders for a shared vision of progress and peace.”

As part of the programme, selected students from participating countries will travel to India for a satellite training programme scheduled from August 23 to September 1, 2026. Participants will take part in satellite design, fabrication, testing, coding, and integration activities as part of the training and collaboration programme.

The two-phase educational programme has been designed for students aged 14 to 18 years, irrespective of financial or social background.

In Phase One, students will undergo STEM learning through 21 structured modules covering physics, mathematics, electronics, coding, systems engineering, and space technology fundamentals.

In Phase Two, participants will move to satellite integration and mission preparation related to the Moon mission.

Mission ShakthiSAT has engaged more than 7,800 students globally and continues to expand its network through collaborations with governments, institutions, educators, and industry leaders.

Space Kidz India is an aerospace organization dedicated to empowering students through space education and satellite missions. Over the past decade, the organization has conducted more than 27 student-led space missions.
