Uttar Pradesh government is going to take big steps to strengthen the farmers and agriculture sector. Soon 827 new Agri Junction Centers will be opened in the state, where almost all the necessary services to farming will be provided to the farmers under one roof. The government believes that this initiative will not only provide modern agricultural facilities to the farmers, but will also create new employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth associated with the agriculture sector.

What is Agri Junction Centre?

Agri Junction Center is being developed as a “one stop solution” for farmers. At these centres, farmers will get information to improved seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, micronutrients and agricultural equipment. Apart from this, information about modern farming techniques, soil testing and crop insurance schemes will also be made available.
The objective of the government is to save farmers from visiting different departments and to make farming more profitable.

Youth will get opportunity for self employment

A major goal of this scheme is to provide employment to educated youth in the agriculture sector. Youth who have obtained degrees in agricultural science and subjects will be given training and will be entrusted with the operation of these centres.

The youth selected by the government will be given free training and will also be helped in providing bank loans. Along with this, facilities like subsidy on interest will also be provided so that the youth can easily start their own Agri Junction.

Modern farming techniques will reach villages

Experts believe that Agri Junction Center will play an important role in providing modern farming techniques to rural areas. Farmers will be able to get information to drone technology, balanced fertilizer use, modern irrigation and machinery from here.

Apart from this, farmers will also get help in taking benefits of Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme and other government schemes.

There will be rapid expansion across the state

The state government plans to establish these centers in almost every development block and tehsil level. This process has already started in many districts. The plan to open 56 new Agri Junction Centers in Prayagraj division has already been announced.

Agriculture and rural economy will get a boost

The government hopes that this scheme will increase agricultural production and strengthen the rural economy. It can also help in reducing migration from villages to cities. Agricultural experts say that if the scheme is implemented properly then it can prove to be a game changer for both farmers and rural youth.
