Gujarat Titans excellent form in IPL 2026 continued as they demolished Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to claim the top spot in the points table and hand SRH a humbling loss.
After the match, GT skipper Shubman Gillmade what many considered a sarcastic remark on SRH's aggressive approach with the bat in the tournament under their skipper Pat Cummins
GT captain said after the match:
"It is all about being consistent and being ruthless. We are not a team who play a particular style and brand, and assess the conditions and play according to it,"
This was regarded as a dig to the attacking cricket a 'brand' SRH have identified with under Cummins' leadership, with his statement of not relying on consistency being brought up yet again as they lost for just the fourth time this season while failing to chase even 170 for the second consecutive match being all out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs their lowest ever IPL total.

Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar Rescue Gujarat Titans
In what was proving to be an even game on a two-paced pitch at Ahmedabad after early GT wickets fell, Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar were the heroes for Gujarat. Sai was composed at his end and played a gritty 61 off 44 balls at a good strike rate to steady GT's ship, with Sundar complementing him with a fluid 50 off 33 balls.
Together they ensured GT's middle order delivered and added enough to their score for GT to post a challenging 168 for 7 in 20 overs with a great understanding of the two-paced nature of the pitch. Gujarat's middle order continued to add some quick runs at the end as they reached almost 170.
Rabada and Holder Tear Through SRH Batting
The SRH batters could never get going as they faltered during the chase against the discipline of the Gujarat bowling unit. Kagiso Rabada picked up three wickets in his spell of four overs to finish with figures of 3 for 28, while Jason Holder also ended up with a three-wicket haul to his name as SRH continued to lose wickets under pressure.
Big hitters like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan failed to make an impact against Gujarat's smart bowling which exploited the pitch to their full advantage. Despite the humiliating defeat Pat Cummins defended his batting order
Cummins said in post-match presentation:
"Our batting order's been fantastic. So I don't think we need to read it too far into today. I think all four of our top four have over 400 runs. So, the guys are going really well. This happens in T20 cricket."
This fifth consecutive win ensured that Gujarat Titans are on top and are easily one of the best teams this season.
