The Italian Open continues, as players hunt spots in the semi-finals. Three-time former champion Iga Swiatek is already safely through to the last four after thrashing Jessica Pegula for 6-1 6-2.
But rainfall means that play has been suspended, with Casper Ruud facing Karen Khachanov in the first ATP singles match of the day. Ruud led 6-1 0-1 when the weather halted proceedings.
While it's no surprise to see Swiatek reach the semis, it's still been a tournament full of upsets. Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic are among those who lost early, and on Tuesday, No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev blew four match points before getting bagelled to lose 1-6 7-6(10) 6-0.
His conqueror, Italian home Luciano Darderi, will be back in action on Wednesday evening as he takes on breakout sensation Rafael Jodar. And Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina will contest the last WTA quarter-final match in the night session.
Coco Gauff and Sorana Cirstea are already through to the semi-finals in the top half of the women's draw. On the men's side, the other two quarter-finals - Jannik Sinner vs Andrey Rublev and Martin Landaluce vs Daniil Medvedev - will be played on Thursday.
