Punjab Kings needs to bounce back

The road to the IPL 2026 playoffs has suddenly become complicated for the Punjab Kings after a dramatic dip in form. Led by Shreyas Iyer, Punjab now needs at least two victories from their remaining three league matches to comfortably secure a place in the top four. Reaching 17 points would likely confirm qualification, while winning all three games could take them to 19 points and strengthen their chances of finishing in the top two.

Punjab’s season has been a story of two contrasting phases. They started strongly, remaining unbeaten in their first seven matches with six wins and one no-result. Dominant performances against teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians pushed them to the top of the standings. However, momentum slipped midway through the tournament as Punjab suffered four consecutive defeats.

Losses against Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad exposed issues in both batting and bowling. Despite the slump, contributions from Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh continue to keep Punjab’s playoff hopes alive.
