Meghan Markle is "basically the breadwinner" for her Los Angeles-based family, and money is "tight", according to sources. The Duchess of Sussex's cashflow has reportedly dropped off since she parted ways with streaming giant Netflix, and her husband Prince Harry's philanthropic work isn't enough to fund their affluent lifestyle.
The couple moved to the private enclave of Montecito in California in 2020, after stepping back from their roles in the Royal Family, but speculation has mounted in recent weeks about their desire to return to the fold. There have also been suggestions that Meghan is eyeing a return to Hollywood years after appearing on TV show Suits, although this is denied by insiders.
One source said Harry and Meghan are struggling to find the $6million (£4.4million) needed to keep them afloat in the US each year, including around $3million (£2.2million) on private security and mortgage payments on their $15million (£11million) mansion. "Money is tight," they told Page Six.
