Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have collaborated with each other on various occasions, with Kartavya being the latest. As a Red Chillies production, the two got together and rekindled an old Bollywood dynamic.

The former admitted that when SRK personally makes a call for a film, the scenario changes and no is rarely an option. However, there was one instance where Farah Khan had to come in between and deliver some bad news.

During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Saif Ali Khan spoke about what it is like to be personally picked for a role by Shah Rukh Khan. The actors worked together in Kal Ho Naa Ho and Saif even had a cameo in Om Shanti Om. The experience itself is one of a kind. However, it may not always pan out.

One such incident happened when SRK called him for a role in Main Hoon Na. While Saif did not elaborate on what the role was, he was keen on saying yes because of how good the role was.

“He once called me for a movie that didn’t happen. When we were very young, he once called me for Main Hoon Na, and he said, ‘There’s a great part.’ And then Farah called me later and said, ‘No no no listen...’”

Unfortunately, Farah Khan took it upon herself to tell that although the two had their conversation, the offer wouldn’t pan out, and they needed a completely different actor. As much as he enjoys working with Red Chillies Entertainment, it didn’t go his way.

Speaking with PTI, he also talked about why he said yes to Kartavya. “I dove into ‘Kartavya’ because I love the script. I think it is a great drama and a really interesting, almost international kind of piecing together of things. I had not read a script like this, and people who read it and discussed it at the time said that this is one of the best roles that have come my way.”

The movie will be released on Netflix on May 15 and it also stars Zakir Hussain, Sanjay Mishra and more.
