As summer heat intensifies, animals at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park are being treated to special seasonal care measures. From elephants and reptiles to big cats, officials say steps are being taken to ensure the animals remain healthy, hydrated and stress-free through the peak summer months.
‘AUTOMATED SPRINKLERS, FANS AND FROZEN TREATS KEEP ZOO ANIMALS COOL’
“We are providing frozen meat, sprinkling water frequently and refilling ponds regularly to help animals stay cool. Water sources are also cleaned consistently,” says Ritto Cyriac, director of the zoo.
Extra precautions are being taken for temperature-sensitive species. “For sensitive species like reptiles, hygrometers have been installed, and whenever humidity or temperature rises, automated sprinklers are activated to maintain a comfortable environment,” he explains.
