Cuban Energy Crisis: The energy crisis in Cuba has deepened amid the tense atmosphere between America and Iran. Amidst the oil crisis, the Cuban government says that this crisis has arisen due to the oil embargo imposed by America. The situation in the country has become so bad that hospitals, schools and government offices have also been affected. Public transport and the tourism industry have also been significantly impacted. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has accused the US of “Energy Blockade”.

The country’s Energy Minister has said that Cuba has now completely run out of diesel and fuel oil, due to which the situation has become very serious. There are power cuts lasting 20 to 22 hours in many areas in the capital Havana. People have come out on the streets, demonstrations were held at various places and people raised slogans like “Turn on the electricity”.
The Cuban government says that this crisis has arisen due to the oil embargo imposed by America. President Donald Trump had threatened in January 2026 to impose tariffs on countries that send fuel to Cuba. After this, countries like Venezuela and Mexico almost stopped oil supply.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that America is ready to provide humanitarian aid worth $100 million, but the Cuban government rejected it.
