Indian Wushu player Aparna Dahiya won gold medal in the 11th Sanda World Cup.

New Delhi, 15 May 2026: 11th Sanda World Cup Indian Wushu player Aparna won the gold medal in the women’s 52 kg weight category in the 11th Sanda World Cup held in Macau. Aparna defeated Vietnam’s current world champion Th Phuong Nga Ngo in the final in straight sets.

This was India’s first gold medal in this tournament which started on 12th May. Earlier, Aparna had lost against the same opponent in the final of the World Wushu Championship held in Brazil in September 2025.

Competitive Wushu is divided into two main categories: Taolu and Sanda. Taolu is a combination of gymnastics and martial arts, and competitors are scored based on their movements, while Sanda is a modern unarmed competition that primarily uses boxing, kicking, throwing, grappling and defensive techniques.
