- Hi-tech decision of Indian Railways!
- Now ‘body camera’ will be seen on TTE’s uniform
- Transparency in ticket checking
Indian Railway Body Camera: Indian Railway Constantly using modern technology in its working system, preparations have started to make the ticket checking system completely ‘hi-tech’. Soon the TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) checking tickets in trains will be seen wearing ‘body cameras’ while on duty. The railway administration is confident that this new system will prevent disputes between passengers and railway staff and strengthen the security system.
Wrong complaints will be stopped
Under this new initiative by the Railways to curb disputes and malpractices, every movement during ticket checking will be captured on camera. Often during ticket checking in the railways, there are arguments or misbehavior between the passengers and the TTE. Now complete video footage of such incidents will be available as evidence. This will prevent false complaints and bring transparency in the ticket checking process.
What will this ‘body camera’ look like and its features?
- HD Recording: High quality video and audio recording facility.
- Night Vision: Ability to shoot clearly even at night or in darkness.
- Battery Backup: These cameras will get around 20 hours of battery backup, which will keep recording even during long-distance drives.
- Tamper-Proof System: These cameras are designed in such a way that the recording cannot be altered or tampered with.

Pilot project started in ‘these’ cities including Mumbai
Railways has currently started this system on a pilot basis (in some selected sections. This includes Mumbai, Voltaire and Raipur sections. TTEs in these sections have also been given special training in using cameras. If the results here are positive, the administration plans to implement this system in all railway trains across the country.
Double benefit for passengers and railway employees
According to railway officials, fake complaints are often made during ticket checking. Now camera recording will serve as solid evidence in such cases. This will protect honest employees and also enable proper investigation of passenger complaints. This is considered as a major step to improve discipline and safety in railways.
Railways’ rapid leap towards technology
In the last few years Indian Railways has adopted many technologies like online ticketing, AI based monitoring and smart stations. Now, by using ‘Body Camera’ system, Railways has taken a step towards making its services more reliable and modern.
