IPL Points Table 2026 Updated After LSG vs CSK match:Chennai Super Kings (CSK) slipped to the sixth position in the IPL 2026 standings after suffering a 7-wicket defeat against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 15.
Batting first, CSK posted 187/5 in 20 overs. Sanju Samson, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (13), and Urvil Patel (6) were removed by Akash Singh. After three early setbacks, Kartik Sharma batted brilliantly and added 70 runs for the fifth wicket.
Mohammed Shami broke the partnership and dismissed Brevis for 25 in the 15th over. Kartik Sharma was removed by Shahbaz Ahmed for 71 runs in the 16th over as LSG made a comeback in the match. But Shivam Dube forged a crucial 45-run partnership with Prashant Veer to help CSK set a 188-run target.
The all-rounder hit an unbeaten 32 runs off 16 balls with the help of two maximums and three boundaries. Prince Yadav gave away 23 runs in the last over as CSK managed to finish well. Akash took 3 wickets, while Shami and Shahbaz also picked up one each.
In reply, LSG got off to a blistering start as Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis scored 86 runs in the powerplay. Marsh completed his fifty in just 21 balls, and stitched a 135-run partnership with Inglis. CSK fought back strongly and picked up three wickets for 9 runs.
Mukesh Choudhary removed both the openers, and Spencer Johnson dismissed Abdul Samad for 7 runs. But Nicholas Pooran smacked four back-to-back maximums against Anshul Kamboj to help LSG win the match by 7 wickets.
