Actor-producer Ravi Mohan on Saturday announced that he would stop acting until his divorce from estranged wife Aarthi is finalised, while strongly criticising online harassment during a press conference held a day after singer and spiritual therapist Keneeshaa announced her breakup with him.
Keneeshaa had earlier said she was leaving Chennai and stepping away from her career allegedly due to cyberbullying and public scrutiny surrounding their relationship.
“Enough is enough. I refrained from opening up all these days. Now, the time has come,” he said, adding that people viewed him as a soft person but that was “not anymore”.
Quoting a Tamil proverb, he warned those “trying to test” his patience and challenged them to confront him directly.
The actor became emotional during the interaction and announced that he would not act in films until his divorce proceedings were completed.
“They are not letting me meet my sons. My sons are being assisted by bodyguards,” he said.
The actor further revealed that he had harmed himself in the past, saying he had slit his wrists but still reported for a film shoot the following day.
He also alleged that some people were misusing feminism and said he was unable to focus on creative work amid the ongoing controversy.
“There is a limit to cyberbullying. I have proof and will expose every one of them,” he said, adding that the trolling had “sent Keneeshaa away”.
He also made remarks against an unnamed female actor during the press conference.
Ravi Mohan was accompanied by his brother-in-law Prasad, whom he said had also suffered within the family.
She said she had entered the relationship “with love” and was leaving “with silence”, while criticising what she described as “noise, ego, judgment and manufactured narratives”.
Keneeshaa also said she was leaving Chennai and giving up on her music and therapy work. Towards the end of her statement, she announced that she was quitting social media due to “online bullying, manipulation and sorcery”.
In the videos, she denied claims that she had broken a family and said Ravi had initially approached her for emotional support.
Keneeshaa also alleged that she had been subjected to severe online harassment and spoke about personal struggles from her past, including a failed pregnancy and difficulties during her early life.
The controversy intensified after Aarthi claimed she had not been informed about the separation in advance, while Ravi later accused her of mentally torturing him.
Ravi Mohan and Keneeshaa were frequently seen together during the controversy, including at a wedding and during one of Keneeshaa’s performances at the Meenkulathi Bagavathi Temple.
