Days after a woman claimed she was allegedly gangraped in a bus in Outer Delhi’s Nangloi early Tuesday, a new twist has emerged in the case. The woman alleged that both the accused sexually assaulted her inside the bus. However, the accused claimed that it was a "monetary dispute" with police saying this was a matter of investigation, Times of India reported.
Investigators said an argument allegedly broke out between the woman and the accused over money. According to police, the woman first used one of the accused, Umesh’s phone to contact Ramendra, who had earlier got off the bus, to ask for money. When he refused, she then used the same phone to call the police and report the alleged incident, the report said.

Delhi Police, however, denied claims that she was sexually assaulted inside a moving vehicle. Senior officers reached the spot shortly after the call and arrested both accused at the location.
Police said the accused’s claims are being verified and all angles are under investigation. The victim’s statement has also been recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC. Investigators are examining the sequence of events, including CCTV footage along the bus route and the background of the accused. The vehicle allegedly involved has been seized and sent for forensic examination.

“My husband is a tuberculosis patient and is unemployed. To support my family, I started working as a sex worker,” the woman said, as per the FIR.
She told police that she was on her way to Madhuban Chowk and had reached near the Saraswati Vihar bus stand when a private sleeper bus with curtains drawn across its windows approached her. The woman boarded the bus and noticed three men inside, one of whom got off after some time.
The remaining two men, who are now accused in the case, allegedly drove the bus to a secluded spot in Nangloi, around 7 km from the location where she was picked up. According to police, the woman was returning home after work when she reached the B-Block bus stand in Saraswati Vihar.
Police said the man allegedly pulled her inside the bus, after which the vehicle headed towards Nangloi. The driver and conductor then took turns to sexually assaulting her, the police said. Investigators said the bus was parked near Nangloi Metro Station during part of the alleged assault and the vehicle has since been seized for forensic examination.
Delhi Police said a PCR call was received from the woman reporting that she had been assaulted by two men. Based on her complaint, Rani Bagh Police registered an FIR under Sections 64(1) (rape), 70(1) (gang rape), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikram Singh said the woman’s statement was recorded immediately and several police teams were formed to trace the accused.
“One accused was arrested soon after the FIR was registered, while the second was apprehended within four hours,” a police officer said. Both accused were later produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
Police teams are now examining CCTV footage from the route taken by the bus and reviewing technical and forensic evidence to strengthen the investigation. Authorities are also probing whether the bus had automatic doors and if any safety mechanisms had been disabled during the incident.
