KKR innings: Finn Allen and Raghuvanshi's 'Rockstar' show

After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Kolkata did not have a good start and captain Ajinkya Rahane was out after scoring only 14 runs. But what happened next shocked the Gujarat bowlers. Opener Finn Allen hit fours and sixes all around the field. He scored 93 runs in just 35 balls, which included 4 fours and 10 long sixes. On the other end, young batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi also played a match-winning inning of 82 not out (44 balls, 7 sixes). The remaining task was completed by Cameron Green in the last overs. Green scored unbeaten 52 runs in just 28 balls, taking KKR's score to 247 runs for 2 wickets.

Poor bowling and fielding of Gujarat Titans

Gujarat's most reliable bowler Rashid Khan gave away 57 runs in 4 overs, while Arshad Khan scored 22 runs in a single over. Mohammad Siraj and Sai Kishore definitely got 1 wicket each, but the team dropped 3 to 4 easy catches in the fielding, due to which they had to suffer the consequences.

GT's innings: Even three fifties could not bring victory

Chasing the huge target of 248 runs, Gujarat Titans fought till the end. The team scored three half centuries each, but due to continuous fall of wickets from the other end, the team lagged behind. Shubhman Gill played a brilliant captaincy inning of 85 runs in 49 balls with the help of 7 sixes. Jos Buttler scored a brilliant 57 runs in 35 balls and along with Gill, kept the match exciting. Sai Sudarshan, who returned after injury, played an excellent inning of 53 unbeaten runs in 28 balls, but he could not make the team win.

Turning point of GT vs KKR match

When Jos Buttler and Sai Sudarshan were at the crease, Gujarat remained in the match. In the last 2 overs, GT needed 45 runs to win and the match could have gone either way. In such a situation, left arm fast bowler Saurabh Dubey, playing only his second IPL match, turned the tide of the match. Saurabh took full advantage of his tall height and gave only 5 runs with his slower balls in the 19th over. In the same over, he also dismissed Jos Buttler (57), whose catch was caught by Ramandeep Singh. This over completely shattered Gujarat's hopes. Sunil Narine was the most economical for KKR, taking 2 wickets for only 29 runs in 4 overs.
