New Delhi .In the 60th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 played at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Gujarat Titans by 29 runs in a thrilling and high-scoring match. With this victory, KKR kept their hopes alive in the race for the Playoffs, while Gujarat Titans suffered a major setback.
In the match, KKR batted first and scored a huge score of 247 runs for 2 wickets. The team may have had a slow start, but Finn Allen’s explosive innings turned the entire match. Allen scored 93 runs in just 35 balls, which included 10 sixes and 4 fours. His innings broke the back of Gujarat bowlers and turned the run rate completely in favor of KKR.
After Allen’s dismissal, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green took over the responsibility and made an unbeaten 108-run partnership for the third wicket. Raghuvanshi played a brilliant inning of 82 runs, while Cameron Green scored 52 runs to give the team a strong finish. In this way KKR’s score reached 247, which was one of the biggest scores of this season.
Gujarat Titans, who set out to chase the target, also had a fast start. Sai Sudarshan and Shubhman Gill gave a good start to the team, but the team’s rhythm was affected due to Sudarshan getting injured and retiring hurt. After this, Gill and Jos Buttler made the match exciting by making a partnership of 128 runs, but could not reach the victory.
Shubman Gill played a strong inning of 85 runs, which included 7 sixes and 5 fours. Jos Buttler scored 57 runs, but KKR bowlers maintained control over the match by taking wickets at important junctures. In the end, Gujarat team could score only 218 runs for 4 wickets and lost by 29 runs.
Sai Sudarshan also scored unbeaten 53 runs in Gujarat’s innings, but his innings failed to lead the team to victory under the pressure of run rate. Gujarat’s challenge weakened due to continuous fall of wickets in the middle order.
With this win, Kolkata Knight Riders have strengthened their playoff hopes with 11 points. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans remain second in the table with 16 points, but this defeat has definitely slowed down their campaign a bit.
